The Need:
At the time, TheAcademy.com was a learning solutions provider specializing in custom e-learning experiences hosted on our internal platform. As SCORM and AICC standards emerged as the industry norm, ensuring compatibility with external Learning Management Systems (LMS) became essential for maintaining our relevance and competitiveness.To remain a preferred partner, we needed to make our e-learning products compliant with these standards—enabling clients to host our content within their own LMS environments. Additionally, we recognized the importance of supporting clients who wanted to host external content while continuing to use our platform.
The Solution:
To address this, we initiated a twofold strategy.First, we transitioned all our e-learning content development to be fully AICC and SCORM compliant, ensuring seamless integration with any LMS.
Second, we designed and developed a proprietary Learning Management System that could meet the diverse and evolving needs of our clients. This platform was built to host both our training solutions and any AICC/SCORM-compliant content from other sources.
Our LMS was intentionally designed to take a holistic, client-centered approach, supporting the full spectrum of learning and development activities—from e-learning to live events—while providing flexibility, scalability, and data-driven insights.
My Role & Leadership
I led the research, design, and development of the LMS initiative. My responsibilities included:- Conducting market research and business analysis to identify client needs and emerging learning technology trends.
- Translating strategic goals into system requirements, architecture, and functional specifications.
- Leading a cross-functional development team in designing and implementing the LMS using ASP.NET, C#, and AJAX technologies.
- Overseeing quality assurance, user experience, and integration testing to ensure performance and compliance standards were met.
